It is centrally located so if you are headed to Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Beverly Hills or Century City, you are not far away. Marina del Rey offers residents convenient shopping, unlimited outdoor recreation, good restaurants and great neighbors.
The local businesses are located within 1- 2 miles of its center. Shopping is convenient and plentiful. The region's best in fashion, gifts, home furnishings, electronics, sporting goods and health and beauty products and services are easily available here. And for shoppers, Marina del Rey boasts a wide variety of local boutiques and a select roster of national retailers. Nearby shopping destinations include Venice, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills So if you love to shop you will fall in love with this place. Most visitor-oriented retail businesses are clustered along Admiralty Way, Washington Boulevard and Fiji Way.
Many retail stores are concentrated in centers including Waterside Marina del Rey, Villa Marina Marketplace, Marina Beach Shopping Center and Marina Square. As the center of Los Angeles' boating community, Marina del Rey is home to dozens of new and used boat dealers, as well as a plethora of marine service and supply centers.
The immediate surrounding area is home to high-tech information systems firms, entertainment and film companies, graphics, advertising and web services, real estate and healthcare professionals. Lincoln Boulevard (CA Business Route 1) runs through the center of the community, and offers a variety of neighborhood-serving businesses, including services and repairs, car rentals, markets, restaurants, motorcycle, bicycle and automobile dealers.
Activities are very easy to plan or if you are a spur of the moment person that is welcome also. Most recreational equipment vendors will take a reservation, and welcome walk-up customers. Whether you've got a few minutes, a few hours, an extra day, or an add-on weekend, Marina del Rey puts a world of options & multitude of water and boating activities, sightseeing, skating, biking, shopping. A plethora of water sports can be found here. From boats and watercraft you pedal, paddle, sail, or drive to windsurfing, sunbathing, swimming, and surfing. You can also reserve boat charters, harbor cruises, and ocean fishing.
There is a 26-mile coastal path that stretches from Malibu at the northern end through the marina and south to Palos Verdes for bikers, skaters, walkers or runners. Plan a picnic at the beach or travel to Burton Chace Park (which also hosts concerts in the summer). Families will love the kid-friendly Mother's Beach.
